PornHub Restores UK Access After Apple Introduces Age Checks

PornHub has restored full access for Apple device users in the United Kingdom after Apple introduced device-level age verification, according to Politico. PornHub's parent company Aylo said the move was in response to requirements under the Online Safety Act, which obliges platforms to take effective measures to prevent minors from accessing adult content.

The platform restricted access for UK users in January over concerns about how the law would be applied, arguing that site-by-site age verification was pushing users toward less regulated platforms.

The turning point came with Apple's iOS update in March, which introduced age verification directly on Apple devices. Aylo described the solution as "trailblazing". "It offers one of the strongest and hardest to circumvent protections currently available", said Alex Kekesi, the company's vice president.

Aylo has long advocated for a model in which age verification is handled by major technology companies such as Apple, Google and Microsoft, arguing this would create a level playing field across all platforms.
