ICC Denies Reports of Arrest Warrants for Israeli Officials

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has dismissed reports that it issued secret arrest warrants for a number of Israeli politicians and military officials. The claims, first reported by the Israeli daily Haaretz, cited a diplomatic source as saying that three politicians and two military officials were among those named. It was not clear when the warrants were allegedly issued or to whom they specifically related.

The report drew immediate attention given that the ICC had already issued public arrest warrants last year for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant over allegations of crimes against Palestinians.

ICC spokeswoman Oriane Maillet called Haaretz's claims inaccurate and denied that any additional arrest warrants had been issued in the case involving Palestinians.
