US Envoy Lands in Greenland Without Official Invite

US special envoy Jeff Landry, appointed by President Donald Trump to advance US claims over Greenland, arrived in Nuuk on Sunday, local media reported. Landry has previously backed Trump's goal of incorporating the vast Arctic territory into the United States, a plan strongly opposed by both the Greenlandic and Danish governments, which have repeatedly stressed that Greenland is not for sale.

Footage released by public broadcaster DR showed Landry stepping off the plane. He plans to attend a business conference entitled "Future Greenland" on 19-20 May. The organizer, Business Greenland, did not invite Landry but said the event is open to anyone who registers.

No official meeting between Landry and Greenlandic politicians has been confirmed.
