Trump Halts Iran Strike After Tehran Peace Proposal
US President Donald Trump said he had suspended a planned attack on Iran after Tehran delivered a new peace proposal to Washington via Pakistan. He also acknowledged that there was a “very good chance” of reaching a deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump said the US military remained ready to strike immediately if negotiations failed. He added that the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had urged restraint, saying they believed a compromise was still possible.
Tehran, however, maintained its harsh rhetoric after the president’s announcement. Iran’s military command warned the United States and its allies against “strategic mistakes” and said the armed forces were ready to respond immediately to any new attack.
According to sources, the Iranian proposal focuses on ending the war, restoring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and easing sanctions. A fragile ceasefire after weeks of fighting is holding for now, but tensions remain high after drone strikes in the region.
