Brussels Reaffirms Sanctions on Russian Oil and Gas

The European Commission has reaffirmed the European Union's commitment to sanctions on Russian oil and gas imports, responding to a UK decision to permit imports of diesel and jet fuel refined outside Russia from Russian crude.

"We reaffirm our commitment to our sanctions on imports of Russian oil and gas, and we reiterate our desire that Russia does not benefit from the war", a Commission spokesperson said.

The statement came after London allowed the import of refined products derived from Russian crude oil, provided they were processed abroad.
