Iran Reports Progress in US Talks, Warns Deal Not Imminent

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has said that negotiations with the United States on a possible memorandum of understanding have produced conclusions on a number of issues, but that this does not mean a deal is imminent.

Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran is currently focused on negotiations to end the war, and that nuclear issues are not part of the current discussions. He reiterated his criticism of what he described as shifting positions among US officials, which he said makes it difficult to reach any agreement between the two countries.
