Trump Calls for Expansion of Abraham Accords

President Donald Trump has said that countries including Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey should be required to join the Abraham Accords as part of efforts to reach a deal with Iran.

Trump said he had spoken by phone at the weekend with the leaders of those states, as well as United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, which have already signed agreements to normalize relations with Israel.

"I stated that, after all the work done by the United States to try and pull this very complex puzzle together,  it should be mandatory that all of these Countries, at a minimum, simultaneously, sign onto the Abraham Accords", Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He added that once the war is over and a deal is reached, Iran's participation in the format would also be welcomed.

Trump also said negotiations with Tehran were "proceeding nicely" but stopped short of suggesting a deal was imminent.
