US Rejects Iranian TV Claims on Hormuz Deal

Iranian state television has reported that it obtained an unofficial draft memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington aimed at easing tensions between the two countries.

According to the broadcaster, the document has not yet been finalized, and the parties may ultimately fail to reach an agreement.

The reported draft states that Iran would restore commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-conflict levels within one month. In exchange, the United States would reportedly end its naval blockade and withdraw military forces from areas near Iran.

The proposed framework would not apply to military vessels and envisages Iran managing commercial shipping in the Strait in coordination with Oman.

Iranian state television also said Tehran would take no steps without "tangible verification".

The White House dismissed the report as a “complete fabrication”.
