Meta Plans Paid Social Media Subscriptions
Meta is preparing to introduce new paid subscriptions for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, offering users exclusive features for a monthly fee, TechCrunch reported.
The company said the subscriptions would give users access to additional tools for personalization, content creation and communication, while keeping the core services free. Meta plans to test different feature bundles across its platforms rather than launch a single uniform subscription model.
Instagram is expected to receive some of the most prominent new features, including more detailed story statistics and tools to help users highlight content for greater reach.
Meta also plans to test paid AI subscriptions, including more advanced image and video generation and expanded access for complex tasks. The company said it would offer freemium access to Vibes, its AI-powered short-form video tool, with subscribers able to unlock additional video creation.
The group is also preparing subscription packages for creators and businesses, with tools for improved visibility on Facebook and Instagram, advanced analytics and content promotion.
The move is part of Meta’s effort to diversify revenue beyond advertising while turning more of its social media and AI features into paid services.
