Drone Strikes Turbine Building at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Saturday that a drone had struck a turbine building at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine, leaving a hole in the outer wall.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi expressed grave concern over the incident, warning that "attacking nuclear sites is like playing with fire".

The agency's team, stationed at the plant, which has been under Russian occupation, immediately requested access to inspect the damage and assess safety conditions on site. The IAEA has repeatedly called on both sides in the conflict to exercise restraint and respect the fundamental principles of nuclear safety.
