Riots Erupt in Paris After PSG's Champions League Triumph

Paris police deployed 22,000 officers and used tear gas to contain riots that broke out after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) clinched a second consecutive Champions League title on Saturday, arresting more than 130 people by late evening.

Clashes occurred mainly around the Parc des Princes stadium, where more than 40,000 fans watched the match on large screens. A crowd of around 20,000 also gathered on the Champs-Élysées despite partial street closures. Some supporters set off fireworks and flares, and rioters damaged six vehicles and two shop windows, according to a police spokesman.

The heavy security deployment reflected the authorities' experience of the previous year, when PSG's first Champions League victory was marred by violent clashes that left two people dead and nearly 200 injured.
