US House Moves to Curb Trump’s Iran War Powers

The US House of Representatives has passed a resolution limiting President Donald Trump’s authority to wage war against Iran without congressional approval.

The motion passed by a narrow majority of 215 votes to 208, with all Democrats and four Republicans voting in favor. The resolution calls for the withdrawal of US forces from hostilities involving Iran unless Congress authorizes military action or formally declares war.

Although largely symbolic for now, the vote reflects growing tensions within the Republican Party and concern over a deeper conflict.

Critics warn that the president could drag the country into a long war without clearly defined objectives. The Trump administration argues that military operations are necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

The House also advanced a bill providing additional security assistance to Ukraine.
