Zelensky Invites Putin to Direct Peace Talks in Open Letter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has published an open letter to Vladimir Putin proposing a direct meeting between the two leaders to agree an end to the war, warning that Ukraine was otherwise prepared to fight on.

Zelensky wrote that most Russians have grown weary of Ukrainian missile and drone attacks, inflation and fuel shortages, and are ready for peace.

"If you do not personally come to the conclusion that it is time to end this war, Ukraine will continue fighting for its existence", Zelensky said, warning that continued conflict could jeopardize Putin's personal position. "It is a fact of Russian history that you know well: when Russia grows tired, change comes", he added.
