Switzerland Bolsters Security for G7 Summit
Switzerland has agreed with France on military cooperation during the G7 summit, to be held from 15 to 17 June in Evian-les-Bains on Lake Geneva. The joint security plan will focus in particular on protecting the Lake Geneva area and its airspace.
The Swiss army has announced it will deploy around 4,000 troops on Swiss territory during the event. The government said the summit, which will bring together the leaders of the G7 nations, requires additional security measures on Swiss soil given heightened global tensions.
