Iran Says US-Iran Deal Will Not Be Signed on Sunday

The Islamabad memorandum will not be signed by Iran and the US on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Saturday, according to state media.

Baghaei said the possibility of signing the memorandum in the coming days could not be ruled out but cautioned that any comment on a signing date was premature given the hesitation of the other side.

Earlier on Saturday, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the United States and Iran had agreed on a framework for a peace deal to end the months-long conflict in the Middle East and had reached final wording of the agreement. Pakistan, he said, was preparing for an electronic signature expected within 24 hours, to be followed by technical-level negotiations next week.
