Zaporizhzhia Plant Suffers One of Its Longest Blackouts

Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been reconnected to the grid following repairs carried out under a localized truce agreed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), after the facility lost all emergency electricity supply for nearly three days.

It was the 19th power outage at the plant since the start of the war. An attack on a power substation across the Dnipro River on Wednesday evening knocked out backup power lines to the plant.

The blackout lasted nearly three days and was one of the longest the facility has experienced, forcing it to rely on emergency diesel generators to provide the electricity needed to cool the six shutdown reactors.
