Ukraine Imposes Sanctions on Russian Mobile Operators

President Volodymyr Zelensky has approved a decision by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to impose sanctions on ten Russian mobile operators, internet service providers and satellite communications companies.

The new sanctions target Luhansk Communications and Mobile Communication Systems, which the presidential office says Moscow is using "to spread its narratives and disinformation about the situation in Ukraine".

Measures have also been imposed on Amtel-Svyaz, a federal satellite and telecommunications operator providing communications services including to the Russian authorities, as well as the Satellite Communications Company, which allegedly supplies secure communications channels used in the war.

Kyiv will provide all information on the sanctioned companies to its counterparts and raise the issue of sanctions alignment across international jurisdictions.

Zelensky had earlier signed decrees implementing the council's decision to impose sanctions on Russian and Iranian companies serving Russia's military-industrial complex.
