Latest Israeli Operations Add to Gaza Exodus

Israeli forces are continuing to expand the areas they control in the Gaza Strip, according to recent statements by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and reports from the territory. Netanyahu has said Israel currently controls about 60% of Gaza and has instructed the military to increase that figure to 70%

The latest operations have targeted areas around Khan Younis, Rafah and the Al-Tuffah district of Gaza City, forcing civilians to evacuate. Residents describe the situation as increasingly desperate and report being displaced multiple times since the start of the war.

Most of Gaza's roughly two million residents are living in overcrowded conditions, sheltering in tents or damaged buildings. The conflict, which began after Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October 2023, has left much of the territory in ruins and displaced the majority of its population.
