Britain and EU Set Date for July Summit

The United Kingdom and the European Union will meet on July 22 for their second joint summit since Keir Starmer’s Labour government took office.

The British prime minister has identified rebuilding relations with Brussels as one of his government’s key priorities and believes that closer cooperation will help boost economic growth, ease the pressure of rising living costs, and create new job opportunities.

Starmer is also pushing for more intensive coordination in the areas of trade, defense, and security. London also wants to address specific issues with the European Union, such as tariffs on steel, food standards, and energy cooperation.

Following talks with European Council President António Costa at the G7 summit, both sides emphasized that closer relations are important for Europe’s security, resilience, and prosperity.
