Strait of Hormuz Threat Boosts Iran's Strategic Position
US intelligence agencies have concluded that Iran has significantly strengthened its ability to influence the global economy following the recent conflict, according to a CNN report citing multiple sources.
Tehran has reportedly demonstrated its capacity to restrict or even close the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important shipping routes for oil exports.
Although the United States and Iran are moving toward signing a memorandum of understanding and restoring normal shipping traffic, analysts warn that Tehran has acquired a powerful new source of leverage in future negotiations. According to the assessments, Iran has also retained a substantial portion of its missile and drone arsenal.
Concerns have also been raised about the possibility that, if diplomatic efforts collapse, Iran could mobilize allied groups in Yemen to disrupt shipping through the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Such a scenario could have serious consequences for global trade, supply chains and energy prices.
