US, Arab Partners Back Independent Lebanon Peace Talks

On Thursday, the United States and its allies in the Persian Gulf expressed support for negotiations on Lebanon, saying the talks should not be contingent on the outcomes of other conflicts. According to officials, all non-state armed groups should be disarmed.

Iran, however, has long made the continuation of peace talks with the United States, which have so far resulted in the signing of a memorandum, contingent on a halt to Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
