Hungary Recalls 37 Ambassadors in Major Reshuffle
The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a major reshuffle of senior officials at its missions abroad. According to 24.hu, Foreign Minister Anita Orban announced on Friday that she had decided to recall a total of 37 Hungarian ambassadors and heads of mission.
She said some of the changes stem from postings reaching their natural end, while many others reflect strategic decisions. The ministry's goal is to ensure that Hungary's interests abroad are represented by diplomats who can represent the country credibly and effectively and in strict accordance with the newly defined foreign policy priorities.
The minister emphasized that the sweeping changes are an essential part of a deeper professional renewal of the entire ministry. The new leadership aims to build an elite diplomatic corps of high professional caliber, whose members will actively contribute to advancing national interests on the international stage.
She added that the ministry's goal was to once again make diplomacy a true profession, one that offered predictable professional development, a stable lifestyle and long-term prospects for the most talented professionals.
