Germany, US to Discuss NATO and Ukraine Support

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul will meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington this week to discuss a new burden-sharing arrangement within NATO, the Times of Israel reported.

The talks will also focus on preparations for next week’s NATO summit in Ankara and on continued support for Ukraine.

Wadephul said the two sides would discuss how to secure stable, long-term backing for Kyiv from Ukraine’s allies.

The goal, he said, was to make Moscow realize it was time to end the killing in Ukraine and come to the negotiating table.

German diplomats have emphasized that sustained assistance to Kyiv remains one of the alliance’s top priorities.
