Polish Defense Minister Rules Out MiG Jets for Ukraine

Poland will not provide Ukraine with MiG fighter jets because Kyiv failed to fulfill an agreement on cooperation in unmanned technologies, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

The minister said Poland had proposed a “MiGs for drones” partnership. According to him, Ukraine initially agreed to the arrangement but later withdrew. “There will be no MiGs for Ukraine because there are no drones or drone capabilities for Poland”, he said.

Kosiniak-Kamysz praised Ukraine's expertise in unmanned systems, noting that Kyiv is already cooperating with partners in the Middle East. He said Poland had expected an exchange of know-how and access to some of the technology.

The minister emphasized that the Polish government remains committed to solidarity with Ukraine. At the same time, he said cooperation should be reciprocal and that partners capable of providing assistance should do so.

He also commented on Ukraine's bid to join the European Union. According to Kosiniak-Kamysz, Kyiv will face difficulties joining the bloc as long as it continues to glorify the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).

“With Bandera, Ukraine will not join the European Union”, he said.
