Russian Attack on Sumy Kills Four, Including a Child

At least four people, including a five-year-old girl, were killed in a Russian glide bomb attack on the center of Sumy, in northern Ukraine. Another 27 people were injured, including a 13-year-old in serious condition, according to Oleh Hryhorov, governor of the Sumy region. The mother of the deceased girl is also among the victims.

The bomb struck a residential building, a store and the adjacent street at a time when many people were in the area. Following the attack, President Volodymyr Zelensky published photos from the scene and called on Ukraine's allies to increase pressure on Russia and help stop the ongoing attacks.

The Sumy region, near the border with Russia, has faced intense shelling for some time. Moscow says it is attempting to expand a so-called buffer zone there.

Two more people were killed and dozens injured in further Russian attacks in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Meanwhile, Kyiv observed a day of mourning following Thursday's massive missile and drone attack, which killed at least 30 people and was the deadliest attack on the Ukrainian capital this year.
