Eight Shot in New York Independence Day Shooting

At least eight people, including four children, were shot and injured overnight during Independence Day celebrations in the Coney Island neighborhood of New York, ABC News reported on Sunday, citing the New York Police Department.

Officers from the New York Police Department (NYPD) responded to reports of a shooting in the Brooklyn neighborhood, the NYPD said in a statement to ABC News.

Among the injured are two men, two women and four children aged 14, 12, 7 and 6. All of the victims were taken to hospitals. Seven are in stable condition, while a 21-year-old woman is in critical condition.

According to ABC, police said they recovered a firearm at the scene but have not yet made any arrests.
