OpenAI Unveils ChatGPT Work AI Agent
OpenAI on Thursday unveiled ChatGPT Work, a new autonomous agent within ChatGPT, marking the company's latest push into workplace automation.
Powered by the GPT-5.6 model, the tool is designed to carry out complex tasks across multiple applications and files. It can gather context from apps, files and workflows and independently produce completed documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports and even functional websites.
The launch underscores intensifying competition in the market for AI tools aimed at professional users. Technology companies are racing to meet growing demand for autonomous agents capable of completing complex tasks with minimal human input.
ChatGPT Work comes just months after rival Anthropic expanded its enterprise offering with Claude Cowork, an agent capable of planning and executing multi-step tasks autonomously.
OpenAI, which is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), also unveiled a new ChatGPT desktop application and a website publishing feature. The new capability allows users to publish websites directly through the ChatGPT Work interface.
