Ukraine Steps Up Campaign to Cut Off Crimea

Ukraine is stepping up its campaign to isolate occupied Crimea and is targeting logistics routes, bridges, energy infrastructure and fuel facilities, according to the Telegraph.

Kyiv's aim is to prevent Russian forces from effectively using the peninsula as their main military base in the south, while also causing serious problems for the occupying administration.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said last month that the campaign is only gaining intensity. "Crimea is being isolated by drones. In the near future, the peninsula will become an island. For the Russians, the real hell is just beginning", he said.

Ukrainian drones initially targeted the land corridor between Russia and Crimea, as well as railway lines. Later, oil depots, power plants, air defense systems and other critical infrastructure became targets of the attacks.

In addition, Ukrainian forces regularly attack bridges at key transportation chokepoints, particularly the Chongar and Henichesk bridges, as well as the R-280 "Novorossiya", one of the main supply routes for Russian troops.

Satellite images have also documented extensive damage to the oil terminal in the port of Kerch, according to Unian.
