Satellite Images Suggest Iran Rebuilding Nuclear Sites

Satellite images analyzed by CNN and the Institute for Science and International Security suggest new construction activity at several Iranian nuclear facilities.

The images suggest Tehran may be working to restore some of the damaged or decommissioned infrastructure, though the exact purpose of the work cannot yet be confirmed.

If the activity is indeed related to Iran's nuclear program, it could raise questions about whether Tehran has complied with the memorandum of understanding it signed with the United States in late June.

Tensions between the two countries are meanwhile rising again. Washington has resumed attacks on targets in Iran, and Tehran has warned it will no longer feel bound by the agreement if it is violated again.

President Donald Trump maintains that the United States is prepared to continue negotiations, but he continues to reject the possibility of Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon, or enough enriched uranium to produce one.
