Zelensky Moves to Replace Ukraine's Prime Minister

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had proposed replacing Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. In a statement on the social media platform X, he praised her work to date at the helm of the government and thanked her for her years of service to the country.

He also wrote that he had offered her a new, important role focused on relations with one of Ukraine's key partners. The president did not specify what position or which partner he was referring to.

He added that he expects lawmakers' support in approving the planned personnel changes in the government. Zelensky has not yet announced whom he is nominating for the post of prime minister, or the reasons for the planned change.
