Five Killed in Israeli Attacks in Gaza Strip

Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip on Sunday killed at least five people, including a 9-year-old girl, according to local health officials.

Rescue workers said the girl was killed when Israeli forces fired on tent dwellings on the eastern side of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the girl's death.

Four other people were killed in an airstrike on a foundry in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City. Witnesses said three Israeli missiles struck the site.

Israel's military told Reuters that it had struck "terrorist" infrastructure, without providing further details.

A ceasefire between Israel and the militant group Hamas has been in effect in the Palestinian territory since October 2025. Progress toward a final agreement has stalled, and both sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire, with reports of more than a thousand deaths in the Gaza Strip since October. According to Israel, five of its soldiers and one civilian have been killed in the same period.

According to Israeli figures, Hamas-led militants killed around 1,200 people during their cross-border attack on Israel on 7 October 2023. Gaza's Ministry of Health says more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in the territory since then.
