US Completes Third Consecutive Night of Strikes on Iran
The US military completed its latest wave of attacks on Iran on Monday evening, launched by US Central Command (CENTCOM) at the direction of President Donald Trump. During the intense five-hour mission, US forces reportedly struck strategic military targets, including bases and ports in Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa and Bandar Abbas.
It marked the third consecutive night of airstrikes after Trump announced the reinstatement of a blockade on Iranian shipping and proposed imposing tolls on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s top joint military command responded that the US had no right to determine the future of the strategic waterway and would not be allowed to intervene. Tehran had already announced over the weekend that it would completely close the vital strait.
The conflict erupted on 28 February with a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran, to which Tehran responded with missile strikes on Israel and Gulf states hosting US bases. The ongoing war in Iran and accompanying Israeli attacks on Lebanon have already killed thousands of people, displaced millions from their homes and triggered a sharp rise in oil prices on global markets.
