EU Accepts X Action Plan Under Digital Services Act

The European Union on Wednesday accepted an action plan submitted by X to comply with transparency rules under the Digital Services Act (DSA). The move comes after the EU fined Elon Musk's platform €120m ($137m) last year.

The measures are intended to give researchers, civil society and the public better access to data, enabling closer monitoring of systemic risks and a more comprehensive assessment of the platform's impact on European users. They are part of a broader European push to tighten oversight of social media, with countries including Norway, France and the United Kingdom debating or introducing restrictions on teenage social media use.

X has also committed to subjecting its action plan to an independent external audit. The platform has six months to implement its action plan, during which it will remain under enhanced EU oversight.
