Rubio Urges Global Action Against Far-Left Terrorism

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on more than 60 countries to strengthen international cooperation in the fight against what he described as far-left terrorism.

Speaking at a conference in Washington, Rubio said that with Islamist militant groups weakened, security forces should place greater focus on violence motivated by far-left ideology. He argued that such groups target politicians and critical infrastructure and pose a growing transnational threat.

President Donald Trump's administration has already designated four European far-left organizations as foreign terrorist groups and is offering rewards for information on their financing.

Rubio also claimed, without presenting evidence, that some of these groups collaborate with Iran or have ties to the Cuban regime.

Civil liberties organizations have warned that such an approach could lead to the suppression of lawful protests or political opponents.
