Republicans Want to End Funding for Planned Parenthood
The debate over abortion is heating up again in the US. During his Senate confirmation hearing, Attorney General nominee Todd Blanche pledged to strictly enforce the federal Comstock Act of 1873, according to EWTN News.
According to some interpretations, this law could restrict the mailing of abortion-inducing drugs, although former President Joe Biden's administration claimed the opposite.
At the same time, Republican politicians and pro-life organizations have called on Congress to permanently cut off public funding for Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood, for its part, announced it will invest $47m through the November 2026 elections to support candidates and mobilize voters in key states.
Meanwhile, in Idaho, signatures were collected for an initiative that would ease the strict ban on abortions, and the governor of Missouri signed a law imposing harsher penalties for the killing of children born alive following a failed abortion attempt.
