Latvia Aims to Complete Anti-Drone Shield by September

According to the Delfi news website, Latvian Defense Minister Raivis Melnis said the country will deploy radars and detection systems along its eastern border by the end of September to strengthen its defenses against drones.

The minister said development and integration of the new radar systems into Latvia’s broader air defense network are still underway. Additional command and control systems must also be acquired to ensure the new equipment operates effectively.

To meet the September deadline, Latvia is negotiating with an unnamed foreign country to purchase additional radars. The ministry aims to cover the entire eastern border with interconnected, automatically controlled anti-drone systems by the end of September.

An automated system is already undergoing live operational testing along one section of the border to refine its performance before it is deployed across the entire frontier.
