One Killed in German Bank Hostage Drama

A 20-year-old man armed with a knife who fatally stabbed one man and held others hostage at a bank in the western German city of Regensburg has been taken into police custody, ending a standoff that lasted several hours.

Police said on social media platform X that two people who had been inside the bank with the suspect were safely escorted from the building.

Armed police units, negotiators, emergency services and a police helicopter were deployed during the operation.
