NYT: Iran Rejects New US Ceasefire Offer

Iran has rejected a ceasefire proposal that, according to Iranian and Iraqi officials, was brokered by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi following talks in Washington with President Donald Trump, the New York Times reports.

Details of the offer have not been disclosed, but according to sources, Tehran does not want a temporary agreement that would leave control over the Strait of Hormuz unresolved.

During his visit to Tehran, the Iraqi prime minister held talks with President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other officials.

Araghchi said: "The problem is not passing messages. The problem is America’s outlook, which is illogical, greedy and controlling."

Meanwhile, the conflict continues to escalate. The US is attacking Iranian military bases and transportation infrastructure, while Iran is launching missile and drone strikes against American targets in the Middle East.

At the same time, the Iranian armed forces are preparing for the possibility of the war spreading further if Washington attacks Tehran or other critical infrastructure.
