US Strikes on Iran Kill Dozens as Pakistan Seeks Deal

On Friday, the United States continued its airstrikes on targets in Iran. President Donald Trump threatened Tehran and the Yemeni Houthis with "major military punishment", but said he still preferred a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

Trump said he had not yet decided on further large-scale strikes. According to him, there were two options: continuing the military campaign or reaching an agreement with Iran. He also stressed that US forces are prepared for further action.

Following the resumption of hostilities, Iran responded with missile strikes on US bases in Arab countries and threatened to attack other facilities used by US personnel.

The Iranian ministry of health reported that 59 people have been killed and 666 injured in US attacks since the end of June.

Tensions are also being heightened by Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea. Saudi Arabia confirmed damage to one tanker, while insurance costs and oil prices remain elevated. According to Reuters sources, Pakistan is exploring options for resuming negotiations between Washington and Tehran with the aim of ending the conflict.
