ICC Member States Dismiss Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan

Member states of the International Criminal Court (ICC) have dismissed Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Eighty-two of the 125 member states voted in favor of his dismissal during a session in New York, according to Politico.

Khan had been on voluntary leave since May 2025, and the court suspended him more than a month ago. The allegations come from an ICC employee, a Malaysian lawyer, who claims she was subjected to coercion and unwanted sexual conduct for approximately one year.

Khan denies all allegations and described the vote as illegal, procedurally unfair and unsupported by evidence. His dismissal comes shortly after the US administration announced a campaign against the ICC.

Washington has long criticized the court's jurisdiction and last year imposed sanctions on Khan and other ICC officials following the issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
