Berlin Archbishop Condemns Pride Parade Attack

Berlin Archbishop Heiner Koch expressed shock over Saturday's attack on the Christopher Street Day event in Berlin, in which one person was killed and at least 16 others were injured. He said that during Sunday services, the faithful would pray for the victims and for peaceful coexistence in society.

"Hate must not prevail", Koch said. The German Catholic Youth Association also condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with the victims and announcing that it would pray for them. The organization also took part in the march through its regional associations.

The incident occurred on Saturday during the evening program after the parade had ended, when a passenger car plowed into a crowd of people in Berlin's Tiergarten Park. Berlin police are investigating the case as a deliberate attack and are searching for a suspect.

The march, known as Berlin Pride, is one of the largest events of its kind in Germany and attracts hundreds of thousands of participants each year.
