Iran Vows Response, Araghchi Briefs EU and Russia
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that the attack on an Iranian merchant ship, for which Tehran blames Ukraine, will not go unanswered. He conveyed this position during phone calls with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
He subsequently posted the information on the X platform. The statement comes amid long-standing tensions between Iran and Ukraine, stemming primarily from Tehran's support for Russia during the war.
Ukraine and its Western allies have repeatedly claimed that Iran is supplying Moscow with drones and other weapons that Russia is using in attacks on Ukrainian territory. Details about the incident or any potential retaliatory measures by Iran have not yet been disclosed.
