Berlin Releases Second Suspect in Pride Attack

The German Federal Prosecutor's Office has released a second suspect detained in connection with the deadly car attack on participants at Berlin's Pride celebrations. However, the investigation remains ongoing.

The prosecutor's office confirmed to Reuters that it is still reviewing the case but declined to provide further details. According to Der Spiegel, investigators have been unable to substantiate their initial suspicion that the released man was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the attack.

The attack took place on Saturday at around 10 p.m. in Tiergarten Park near the Brandenburg Gate, close to the annual Christopher Street Day celebrations. One person was killed.

Police on Sunday shot dead the 21-year-old suspect, who had a history of Islamist extremist activity.
