Kyrgyzstan Seeks Russian Fuel Supplies Amid Refinery Disruptions

Kyrgyzstan is in talks with Russia to secure fuel supplies after Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries reduced production capacity and contributed to fuel shortages.

Deputy Prime Minister Danijar Amangeldiev said Kyrgyzstan is heavily dependent on imported fuel, with more than 90% of its gasoline typically supplied by Russia. Moscow has faced repeated supply disruptions since late May.

In response, Kyrgyzstan imposed an indefinite ban on petroleum product exports in July. The government has also signed agreements with Belarus and China to supply diesel and jet fuel, while seeking assistance from neighboring countries to transport the shipments.

Amangeldiev did not disclose the expected delivery volumes or timeline for additional fuel supplies from Russia.
