US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran were progressing well, while reiterating that the United States would carry out further military strikes if Tehran failed to reach an agreement.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said he hoped to avoid attacks on Iranian bridges and power plants.
“It's a very, very delicate balance. So I think we have a very strong position right now. They know I'm going to do that if they don't make a deal”, Trump said.
Speaking about the negotiations, he added: “We have had some very good talks”.
Trump is due to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on Tuesday. The two leaders are expected to discuss the aftermath of the US and Israeli strikes on Iran in February, as well as the ongoing nuclear negotiations.
The president also addressed reports that Netanyahu intends to raise the issue of the Pickaxe Mountain facility, an underground site linked to Iran’s nuclear program located near one of the country's main nuclear complexes.
“I don't need Bibi to tell me that. Bibi's telling me that because he wants me to stay involved", he said referring to Netanyahu. Trump then added: "I know exactly what's going on at Pickaxe. It's not a big problem. We took out their nuclear sites, and we'll have to take out Pickaxe if we don't make a deal. We don't make a deal, we'll take it out very easily”.
