Poland Investigates Debris After Object Vanishes from Radar

Polish police are investigating a crater about ten meters wide and debris from an unidentified object found in a field in the Lublin Voivodeship.

The object was detected by Polish Armed Forces radar at 3:40 a.m. as it moved westward during extensive Russian strikes on Ukraine, but disappeared from screens shortly afterwards.

Poland scrambled fighter jets to secure its airspace after the attacks killed at least 13 people in neighboring Ukraine, including one in Kyiv.

The military dispatched a Mi-24 helicopter to the object’s last known location. Its crew identified a probable crash site near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia.

Police said they received reports of a “loud bang” in the Bilgoraj district between Tarnawa-Kolonia and Biskupice. Officers found the crater and scattered debris in a field about two kilometers from the nearest buildings.

Warning sirens also sounded for several minutes in the city of Lublin during the Russian strikes. Authorities have not disclosed what the object was or where it came from.
