US Strikes Dozens of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Targets

The US military said it struck dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard targets in Iran, including command centers and drone facilities, during a two-hour operation launched after Tehran fired ballistic missiles at American forces in Jordan.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes ran from midnight to 2 a.m. and were intended to further weaken threats posed by Iran and its proxies to US forces, commercial shipping and neighboring Gulf states. It added that all the missiles fired at Jordan had been intercepted.

Iranian state media reported that three people were killed in US strikes on Qeshm Island. Jordan’s military said it had thwarted an Iranian attempt to target the kingdom, intercepting five missiles.

Earlier, US and Saudi forces attacked Iran-aligned groups in eastern Iraq in retaliation for drone strikes on Saudi oil targets launched from Iraqi territory. The operation marked the first time Riyadh had publicly joined Washington in carrying out such attacks.

Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces said at least 20 members were killed and 32 wounded.

In Egypt, British maritime security firm Ambrey said a drone had struck a US-owned gas storage tanker at the Mediterranean port of Damietta. The Egyptian Petroleum Ministry confirmed a fire but did not mention a drone attack.

President Donald Trump said Washington would respond forcefully to Iranian attacks while continuing to seek a peace agreement. The Strait of Hormuz, which carried about one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies before the war, remains the main obstacle in negotiations.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards later said they would “punish the aggressor today” following the latest US attack.
