Eurozone Price Growth Accelerates Slightly

Annual inflation in the eurozone rose to 2.9% in July, up from 2.8% in June. In Germany, the harmonized index of consumer prices rose to 2.8%.

Lithuania (5.6%) and Bulgaria (4.1%) recorded the highest inflation rates in the eurozone, while Estonia (2.0%) and Malta (2.1%) recorded the lowest.

After stagnating at the beginning of the year, economic growth in the eurozone also accelerated slightly in the second quarter of 2026. The currency bloc's gross domestic product rose by 0.4% compared with the previous quarter, while the economy of the entire European Union grew by as much as 0.5%. In the first quarter, it had grown by only 0.1%.

In Germany, economic output increased by 0.2% in the second quarter.
