Trump Threatens to Keep Blanche as Acting AG

US President Donald Trump has threatened that if the Senate continues to hesitate over confirming Todd Blanche's nomination as attorney general, he will keep him in the role of acting attorney general. He also announced that he would push for legislation to establish the proposed "anti-weaponization fund".

Republican Senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis are blocking Blanche's nomination, demanding guarantees that the Department of Justice will not establish the fund, which critics have labeled a mechanism that would use taxpayer money to support Trump's allies.

On the social media platform Truth Social, Trump described Blanche as one of the most respected experts in the country.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is set to vote on the nomination on Tuesday. Under US rules, an acting official may remain in office as long as their nomination is pending a Senate decision and has not been formally rejected or withdrawn.
