Trump Says He Will Postpone a New Attack on Iran

Late Saturday evening, US President Donald Trump announced that he would postpone a new attack on Iran if an agreement could be reached quickly to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

"Iran and ‘other Middle Eastern Countries’ asked for a time to complete a deal that would lead to ‘the Immediate, Complete and Total’ reopening of the Strait and ‘an end to Iran's nuclear threat’", Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

"Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL", the president explained.

Israel "joins me in this commitment," Trump wrote. Israel did not immediately comment publicly on the matter.

This weekend, Iran warned the US against any "adventurous action" and stated that it would respond decisively if US forces carried out Trump's threats of new attacks on Iranian targets.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued the warning during separate phone calls on Saturday with senior Turkish, Pakistani and Saudi officials. The calls came just hours after Kuwait's military said it had destroyed drones launched by Iran at several key facilities in the country.
